  • FLAG DAY CELEBRATION

June 14, 2008 at the

Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg - The State College Elks Lodge and local veteran’s organizations will sponsor a joint Flag Day Service and U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony on the grounds of the 28th Division Shrine. The public is encouraged to bring their unserviceable American Flags for the proper disposal. Free Admission 6:00 p.m.

  • "MEDICAL SUPPORT ON THE BATTLEFIELD"

June 30, 2008 at the

Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg - COL Robert S. Driscoll, former Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans, and Security for the North Atlantic Medical Regional Medical Command, Washington, D.C. and current instructor of health services at the U.S. Army War College will discuss this aspect of combat medicine.  Free Admission - 7:30 p.m.

  • BOALSBURG GARDEN PARTY FOR THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

Saturday, July 5, 2008. A community pot-luck organized by the Boalsburg Village Conservancy and a patriotic sing-along will take place from 1:30 to 4 pm in the garden of the Boal Mansion Museum as well as a reading of the Declaration of Independence by a descendant of the Richard Henry Lee, who in 1776 offered the resolution for independence in the Continental Congress that became the Declaration of Independence. The free event is open to all and will also feature a brief program on the planning so far for the Boalsburg 200th in 2008/2009. phone (814) 466-9266.

Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg - Annual arts and crafts festival featuring the best of Central Pennsylvania’s artisans.  Food, fun and family entertainment in a park like setting.

  • VIETNAM REVISITED

July 26 & 27, 2008 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg - Visit this Living History bivouac (encampment) on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum with re-enactors portraying the combat soldier of the Vietnam era in-country in Southeast Asia.   Daily programs include accompanying squads on a Short Range Patrol, fashion show at 1300, and witnessing a patrol ambush at 1400.     Bivouac opens 1000 to 1700 on Saturday and Noon to 1600 on Sunday.  Free Admission to bivouac.

  • EXHIBIT: Santa's Draft Card

November 30 thru December 21, 2008 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg - Reverend Santa Claus of Saline county Missouri registered for the draft in World War II.  A copy of his draft registration from the Selective Service System will be on display in this month long exhibit.  Hours - Thursday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday Noon to 4 p.m.
