I mentioned that the Filipiniana theme & textiles; & ethnic or indigenous theme & woven fabrics can be used or incorporated in a formal business attire. Here is Superstar Ate Guy wearing a black, white & gray Yakan tribe weave tailored jacket w/ black slacks & black pumps. Ate Guy Nora Aunor did her own modern nude make up. She is attending the 2012 Venice Biennale for "Thy Womb". I just looove her total look!! Love her well made jacket too. Very chic & modern-- & age appropriate. Now here is her arch rival-- Star for All Seasons Ate Vi-- Vilma Santos at the 2017 SONA wearing a boufant gown w/ a spaghetti strapped corset top using a Maranao malong weave w/c is paired off w/ a Filipiniana style bolero. Not quite right here. This is NOT formal business attire. Ate Vi is mixing Filipiniana & Maranao & it just creates clutter & a tacky mish mashed look. She is also stuck in what I call-- "the Reyna Elena Santacruzan look". The fabric is quite busy & too shiny & festive to be used for daytime formal business attire. BUT-- if this fabric were made into a slim, sleek tailored jacket paired off w/ a little black linen dress or black raw silk dress underneath w/ nice black pumps-- it would work perfectly & create balance!! This fabric would be fabulous as slim pants suit ensemble or wide pants & jacket ensemble or a tailored skirt & jacket ensemble-- for EVENING cocktail business events.
